Musings From the Road

June 22, 2018 by Dave 3 Comments

We are 24 days in.   I thought I would share some musings, observations and statistics from the road.

  • Miles driven: 3,379
    • and only one 10 minute freeway slow down due to an accident.  #winning
  • Walmart may be Arkansas’ darling, but Dollar General seems to own the state,  as well as the entire South as far as we can tell.
  • Speaking of Walmart, we never shop at there at home, but have on the road.  Wow, stuff really is cheap.
  • First Trader Joes sighting: Charleston, SC
  • about 80% of billboards in Florida are for personal injury lawyers.
  • Number of times we have had to stop driving due to weather so bad we couldn’t see out the car: 4
  • Days without Rain: 3
  • News Flash for my West Coaster Friends:  the Humidity is legit!
  • Repairs on the Road
    • repaired leaking windows – 1
    • Re-sealed camper seams – 4
    • broken trailer emergency brake cable repair: 1
    • Broken driver side door handle on volvo (pending): 1
  • Number of times Annie has smelled something wrong that no one else can smell:  infinity.
  • Hours the A/C has not been running : zero
This is how the back seat travels

Is that broken handle inside or outside? In otherwords, is Annie getting out 1st, going around and opening the door for you?

Inside. I have to roll the window down and open it from the outside. I took the door apart and couldn’t figure out how to fix it. Also barely got the door back together.

Love the photo of Claire. You are right, the humidity IS legit. Wish I had some mtn air right now.
Annie’s sense of smell is inherited. I have it, and I know the other sisters do too. Most of the time it’s for the safety of those we are with.
    Love reading the blog.
