We had a day to kill before we had planned to go the Big Apple, so we figured why not go check out the Jersey Shore. Rather than drive around Delaware Bay to the Jersey shore we decided to take the scenic route and travel by ferry to Cape Mays. It was Annie and Claire’s first time on a ferry. Even though it took 1.5 hours longer to take the 1.5 hour ferry, and cost us an extra $70 it was a nice break from what would have otherwise just been another drive.
We got situated in our campground and decided to drive on over to Ocean City to hang out on the boardwalk and have dinner. It was only 20 minutes away. I felt a little mislead though. Ocean City is apparently the family friendly Jersey shore town, which made it cleaner I’m guessing and we had a good time, but It’s a dry town. Honestly, this should be better advertised. Boardwalks and beaches mean beer. It’s the way the world was meant to be. Also, there weren’t many Bros, so not the full Jersey experience.
We found a great little amusement park section, and did a bunch of rides (Clarie and Dave did at least), had some dinner, and went back to camp. All-in-all it was a great little detour. We head next to park the trailer at Camp Earle Naval Weapons Station and head into NYC!
